Cute and funky...but CHEAP QUALITY September 2, 2010 Rachel E. Gray (San Francisco, CA United States) When I saw these online I thought they were beautiful and dressy but kind of funky and fun at the same time. They looked kind of neo-Victorian but with an Oriental twist, and since they were on sale, I felt I had to buy them.
When they arrived, however, I was shocked to find that in person they didn't look anywhere near as nice as in the product pictures here. The leather was clearly not good quality. It was thin and pretty flimsy and almost crinkled, and there was a crease running up the front. If I had paid full price I definitely would have returned them, but hadn't, and I thought they were still funky and pretty cute, so I kept them.
They are comfortable enough to wear out to dinner or to anything where I'll be sitting most of the time, and I do wear them often to that type of event, but if I'm going to be walking around or standing for a while, they can get pretty painful. After a few hours of shopping they become very uncomfortable, and I wore them to a standing room only concert and I was in terrible pain by the end, and got very bad blisters.
Recently, after having owned them for about a year and a half, I found one of them was causing me a lot of pain after a dinner, and when I took it off I found a large hole in the sole and cracks coming out of it. I don't know that this is due to poor quality material--it could be that I simply stepped on something big and sharp--but it might be, so I thought I should mention it.
Funky Vintage Style September 2, 2010 AshleyC I just bought these boots and they are really, really cute - I love vintage fashioned details on boots and I love the "spats" aspect of these and the fact that they are so dark brown, they still work really well with black. That said, you definitely need to order a larger than normal size. I wear between an 8 and an 8.5 and a 9.5 was good for me but by no means too large. I could not have worn a 9. I also found (probably because these are cheaper and probably made in China) that I had to order a couple of pairs to find the best for each foot. They are super comfortable though. I hope they last!
Order Up 1/2 Size August 7, 2010 M. Sarrao (New Mexico, USA) These boots are great. I have been watching them for over a year, and the price finally went down enough that I decided to buy them. I took other reviewer's advice and ordered up 1/2 size. They fit perfectly in length. They feel a bit narrow, but my foot tends to the wide end (in fact, I usually buy wide width shoes in dress shoes - pumps, heels, etc. - because they tend to run narrower than sandals, sneakers, etc.) My calves are on the large side, but I had no problem zipping these boots up. I believe the shoe is leather, so I think it will stretch, and not remain tight, as I wear them. Do order up a 1/2 size.
Mismatched boots July 26, 2010 Diana Vick (Seattle, WA) When I received the boots, I immediately tried them on. I was so excited. The left one fit well, but I couldn't even get the right one on. It felt like it was at least two whole sizes too small. It was marked as the same size as the left one but clearly it wasn't. I was very upset and disappointed.
Runs small July 24, 2010 softsculptor I bought the jump jail boot in 6.5. I am normally a 6.5 or 7, but since boots generally run larger, I opted for the 6.5. BIG mistake. After not even being able to get my foot in the shoe, I decided to go a full size up. Bought the Jump Stark and Jump Secret boots in 7.5 and fits like a dream.
I would recommend most people go AT LEAST a half size up, and if you have a wide foot like I do, a full size.
Aside from the sizing issue, I adore these boots. I find that a lot of mid-calf boots look awkward with a skirt or shorts, but not these. The fashion designers with this company know what's up. I am tempted to buy more.
